wwwpic5678 England midfielder Jack Wilshere has played down World Cup expectations but believes this summer could be a stepping stone towards a brighter future for Gareth Southgate's inexperienced team.

The Arsenal player is hoping to win his first cap in nearly two years in warm-up friendlies against the Netherlands and Italy having regained his place in Arsene Wenger's team this season after a spell on loan at Bournemouth in 2016/17.

The squad Wilshere has rejoined has changed greatly from the one he first broke into as a promising 18-year-old in 2010, however.

Tottenham striker Harry Kane misses out through injury, leaving Southgate with a 27-man squad that is thin on players performing regularly in the Premier League.

"It's completely different. I remember the first time I walked into an England squad, I went for dinner the first time and there was [Wayne] Rooney, [Frank] Lampard, [Steven] Gerrard, [Rio] Ferdinand, [John] Terry - big players who I had watched growing up," said Wilshere.

"It's a different feel now. There are more young players, there's more of a group I think and there's more of a plan towards the future."

Wilshere was last included in an England squad in November 2016, when he was on the bench for games against Scotland and Spain. wwwpic5678

His last appearance for his country came in what proved to be Roy Hodgson's last game in charge, with their 2-1 defeat to Iceland seeing them eliminated from Euro 2016.

England's U20 and U17 sides won their respective World Cups last year and although he sees cause for optimism, Wilshere is keen not to raise expectations too high for the next generation.

"The World Cup is a massive thing for us and we want to do well," he added.

"We don't want to set ourselves any targets but I think going through after the World Cup the group is in a good position

"If you look over the past years, especially Rio [before World Cup 2014], we were confident going into that and it didn't work out. And with this group of players, it wouldn't be fair." wwwpic5678

ฟุตบอล ออนไลน์ All of the hype has centred on the Egyptian, which the Liverpool manager highlighted to his team before their Manchester City clash Jurgen Klopp jokingly told Liverpool to train naked before their Champions League quarter-final decider against Manchester City as all eyes would be on star Mohamed Salah.

Salah has enjoyed a stellar debut campaign at Anfield, helping Liverpool reach the Champions League semi-finals with 40 goals in all competitions since arriving from upcoming European opponents Roma. Of Salah's season tally, 30 of those have come in the Premier League as the Egyptian forwards leads the Golden Boot race, while he was named in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year.

Discussing the hype over Salah, who scored in Liverpool's 2-1 second-leg victory over City at the Etihad Stadium last week, German manager Klopp revealed what he told his players. "It is a really good group and, with Mo, everyone really likes the hype around him, all the boys," Klopp said. ฟุตบอล ออนไลน์

"When we came out for the Champions League training before Man City, I said, 'Come on everybody, let's go out naked because no one will realise — they are just looking at Mo'. "Now we go to Rome. I don't think the hype will be a little bit less. But it is all okay.

"The boys created the atmosphere in the group. In a successful team, there is always a good atmosphere. Other teams can have very good players, but no group."

Klopp added: "There is so much that is positive – we are a team. The boys are all together. "We have a big chance here to create something for the future. We are still young and full of potential. My impression is that they are all excited about being in this group." Liverpool take on Roma in the Champions League semi-final, with the first leg in Rome next Tuesday, but face a road test in the Premier League against West Brom on Saturday. ฟุตบอล ออนไลน์

Everton defender deal in the cards, fans will be split

m8bet Everton full-back Leighton Baines could be ready to quit the club to pursue a move to Major League Soccer, according to The Sun. Californian duo Los Angeles Galaxy and Los Angeles FC are said to be tracking the former England international, whose time on Merseyside has been rumoured to be close to an end for a while. Baines spent much of the recently concluded Premier League season out injured, but he returned for the final two months of what was an up and down campaign for the Toffees, one which may well have been his last.

Los Angeles Galaxy, arguably the most well-known side in MLS, are no strangers to big name signings. Having previously had David Beckham, Landon Donovan and Steven Gerrard on their books, they shocked the competition by announcing the signing of Zlatan Ibrahimovic earlier in the year. They currently have former Arsenal and Chelsea defender Ashley Cole at left-back but could be ready to upgrade him with a move for Baines, who is likely to offer a longer-term option. m8bet

Los Angeles FC are currently in the middle of their first season in Major League Soccer, as the only new franchise to come into the league this term. They have made a flying start to life in MLS, but are operating with a small squad so the possibility of signing such an established star would be one they will welcome. Bob Bradley’s side, who sit second in the Western Conference after 11 matches, utilise three at the back at present, but were they to attract Baines to the Banc of California Stadium it would give them another option in terms of formation.

The 33-year-old has been at Everton since 2007, but sources close to him believe he will head for California, although to which Los Angeles outfit he will go to is unsure. The hierarchy at Goodison Park are expected to allow Baines to leave without a fee as they get set to make a number of changes to their own squad, ahead of launching a stronger challenge to next season. m8bet
